Whilst the implementation of lockdowns as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic has caused the postponement or cancellation of many yachting events across the world, it has also given many organisations within the industry the opportunity to connect via virtual events.
For yacht crew, the pandemic has left many in limbo between seasons, whilst others are stuck onboard waiting until restrictions are lifted. This has given rise to multiple online meet-ups, WhatsApp support groups and webinars, where crew are meeting to discuss the current situation, learn ways they can develop their skills during this time and most importantly, feel connected.
Next week, we are hosting our very own webinar on 15th April at 17:00 CET, where we’ll be discussing some of the key issues affecting crew right now, updates from the MCA regarding CoCs, CECs and exams and give you our thoughts on the yachting season ahead. Sign up to attend our webinar.
The Nautical Institute, She of the Sea, The Crew Coach and Start Yachting are just some of the many yachting organisations who have also hosted online webinars, video interviews and podcasts to help guide crew through these unprecedented times.
Superyacht radio is also hosting multiple interviews with influential yachting organisations and has created their own virtual ‘Yachting’s Got Talent’ event to keep crew connected and entertained.
It was recently reported by Forbes that after the Palm Beach Boat show was cancelled in Florida, many yacht companies, such as Denison Yachting, hosted virtual yacht shows where they offered virtual tours, videos and photos to customers. Likewise, Burgess Yachts continued this virtual trend by hosting 360 tours of all of their yachts on their website.
With the lockdowns set to be extended in many regions, there are sure to be many more virtual events and meet-ups for crew, so we will be sharing these our via our social pages in the coming weeks.
