The PYA and the Nautical Institute are jointly affiliated with each other.

What is the Nautical Institute?  The Nautical Institute is an international representative body for maritime professionals involved in the control of sea-going ships. They provide a wide range of services to enhance the professional standing and knowledge of its members who are drawn from all sectors of the maritime world.  It has an extensive branch network all around the world.

The Nautical Institute is a major maritime publisher with over 200 titles to its credit. Many of these books have become industry standards and are acknowledged by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). The hallmark of Institute publications is that they are 'Practical Guides' written by practitioners for practitioners.

The principal aim of the Nautical Institute international branches is to promote the activities and increase the membership of The Nautical Institute in their area. The Nautical Institute publishes SEAWAYS monthly.  A copy is held in the PYA Office.

Membership of the Nautical Institute (NI) is open to PYA members.  Please contact Antibes if you are interested in joining the NI for further information.

The PYA has a special partnership rate open to all PYA full members.  This only applies to PYA Members who are joining Nautilus International for the first time. The rate will continue throughout their membership of Nautilus, subject to the yearly review of membership subscription rates.

Why join PYA and Nautilus?  Nautilus represents Merchant Navy Officers for UK and Dutch seafarers and is recognised by large employers in commercial shipping for collective negotiation on terms and conditions of employment.  MN crews are likewise represented by the National Union of Seamen.

The PYA is a large yacht specific organisation recognised by MCA/RED group flag state administration and also by Transport for Malta.  It represents certification issues for deck, engineering and interior crews and verifies sea time in large yachts for all crew and officers.

PYA recommends consideration by fully certificated deck and engineer officers in large yachts of  membership of Nautilus International primarily in order to enjoy the protection of their CoC against the consequences of loss of licence.  Nautilus offers other benefits to its members which are listed on their website and in their excellent monthly journal "the Telegraph"

Those PYA members who wish to join should join online and and email to advise them that they were referred by PYA. This will then give them a reduced rate.

Currently, these rates are EUR210 per year for officers, and EUR140 for crew, reduced from EUR330 and EUR225 respectively.
