Glasgow born Scot, Tork Buckley came from a background in music first as a drummer subsequently a stage set designer for Rock shows and corporate presentations. He has sailed since an early age. He became a professional captain in 1989 and has commanded both motor and sailing yachts in sizes ranging from 47 feet to 66m in many sea areas.
He is a UK MCA Master Yacht <3000gt and has also acted as an Owner's representative. He is now the Technical Editor for The Yacht Report magazine, a freelance contributor to other publications and a consultant on new construction and other yachting matters.
The design construction and operation of yachts, ships and other floating vessels is an abiding passion (as is appropriate in someone born in one of the world’s greatest and today, sadly, former, shipbuilding cities) The yachting business is for him a source of both endless and equal, fascination and frustration.
