Russell Lunt

Russell Lunt

Russell Lunt was born in Liverpool, UK in 1944. He has owned yachts since the 60’s, and holds a Commercially Endorsed Yachtmaster’s Certificate.

In 1981 he moved to France and was Managing Director of a major company of yacht brokers from 1985 -2006, and Secretary of the PYA for some 10 years (representing them at meetings of the European Boating Association and the UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency – MCA). In 1993 – following the introduction of UK Regulations and the related Code of Practice dealing with the operation of Charter Yachts – Russell spearheaded the adoption and implementation of the compliance work, and was a member of the MCA Steering Committee when the Code of Practice was reviewed in 2002. He has written articles about the International Maritime Conventions (IMO and ILO), and attended meetings at the IMO as part of the UK Delegation.
Married for 40 years, his three children have all worked in yachting, and his two daughters hold senior positions in the Charter Industry. He continues to work as a Yacht Broker.
