Peter Evans

I began my professional yachting career back in 1973 on a lovely old Camper & Nicholson motor yacht called Malahne, she was 50M long and had a crew of more than twenty. My position was not one of glory, I was ‘Peggy’ or crew steward, it was not a particularly pleasant position and as soon as a vacancy came up on deck I jumped at the chance.

After three years on “Malahne” I attained the giddy heights of Bosun. Then it was a crawl up the ladder on ‘Boule Dogue’ then ‘Ottelia’; my first command came on ‘Eulogy’ a 60 foot Cheoy Lee followed by ‘New Alouette’; ‘New Alouette II’; ‘Freemont’; ‘Zulu Sea’; ‘Princess Laya’; ‘Princess Laya II’; build Captain for ‘Tigre d’Or II’ and ‘Louise’; then ‘La Naturalle Dee’ and finally my present position of Master on ‘Kingdom 5KR’

I consider myself privileged to have a career in the yachting industry. Things have changed, a lot more emphasis is put on paperwork now, but the immense pleasure of putting to sea on a craft of beauty is hard to beat.
