Alison Houghton – Service Record Book Manager

Not unlike my esteemed colleague and friend, Bridget, I arrived on the Cote d’Azur with a friend from the Wirral on a 2 week holiday and find myself still here, 25 years later!!

The usual stint on boats started me on the career ladder, with casual crewing and day-work, followed by 10 happy years working with Council Member Ian Soutar in Port Canto in Cannes.

Marriage and motherhood followed (a whole different ball-game! ) with various part-time jobs and then a five year stint teaching English to adults in a language centre, which well and truly brought me back into the work-place.

Now here I am, working for the PYA and very happy doing so, meeting up with people and old friends I haven’t seen for years (one of the drawbacks of bringing up two children in a remote part of Mougins). The job is great, very varied and interesting, at times quite stressful and challenging, but never boring, and it’s a nice feeling to again be part of that great community we call yachting.
