ISS/PYA MEETING OF THE ASSOCIATIONS – International Wine Tasting
25th September – Yacht Club de Monaco
The Meeting of the Associations ‘International Wine Tasting’ was a huge success again with over 250 people attending. A good mix of
captains, crew, press and industry representing the PYA, ISS, Seakeepers, Sybass and AYSS – with some serious networking going on whilst sampling some lovely wines
provided by So.Se.Ma, Froggy Gourment and Shore Solutions. We would like to thank all our sponsors, GMC, Bond TM and Crew Asia for their support and of course to
Norma Trease for putting it all together and Andrew, our President and the girls at ISS for their involvement in the organisation.

CAPTAIN ROGER TOWNER’S CRYSTALL BALL
Date: Tuesday 22nd September
Venue: La Salle du 8 Mai
Hosted by the Professional Yachtsmen’s Association and Blue Water Training
Sponsored by Blue Water Training
Speaker: Captain Roger Towner, UK Registrar General of Shipping and Seamen, MCA
The President of the PYA, Andrew Schofield, welcomed everybody to the meeting and introduced Captain Towner.
Captain Towner thanked the PYA and the Blue Water Training for the invitation to come and speak about the future of yachting and how the MCA saw it. He introduced himself by saying that he had spent 26 years at sea in the merchant navy and had spent the last 15 years at the MCA, 7 years of that as the Chief Examiner and now the UK Registrar General of Shipping and Seamen but still maintained a keen interest in the yachting industry.
Subjects discussed included the STCW code revisions, the implications of MLC, the 3000gt ceiling and the ways and means to rise above it.
