Meet the team

PYA Executive

Andrew Schofield, president

After completing my degree in Applied Biology and working in the bio-sience industry for a year I left all that behind in 1991 and found a deck hands job on a sailing yacht in the Caribbean. Since then I have worked on various yachts and never looked back. I have always enjoyed the outside and for me, being in on or under the water has always been the best place. The combination of the practicalities of seamanship, navigation and more recently the discipline of compliance for a commercial yacht is interesting enough on it's own. Couple this with the challenge of providing a first rate marine leisure experience for owners and guests means that yachting has given me and continues to give me a rewarding career.

Jeffrey Marsh, treasurer

Jane Hardy, honorary secretary

Trained originally in hotel management and a keen dinghy sailor, these were ideal stepping stones into the world of yachting when I arrived in France many years ago. Twelve years working on both motor and sailing yachts gave me the opportunity to travel extensively and to become accustomed to interacting with both owners and crew. I hung up my sea boots in 1989 and started working in one of the leading yacht brokerage offices in a junior position. Now one of the few female yacht brokers in the industry, I am glad to be able to draw on the practical and technical knowledge obtained as yacht crew. This is an invaluable asset and helps me to appreciate the concerns of Captains and crew in relation to my work both as a broker and as SRB Officer for the PYA.

Only 3 full-time staff. That's how efficient PYA runs its operation. Meet them.

Antibes Staff

Alison, SRB manager

After popping over to the South of France on a brief holiday to visit a friend I find myself still here, very many years later!! Having worked on yachts for many years, motherhood intervened which took up a lot of time and energy after which I moved back into the workplace and taught English as a foreign language to adults which was very satisfying experience. I have now worked for the PYA for almost 7 years and find it to be an interesting, challenging job and always very enjoyable.

Carey, Marketing and Development Manager

Carey was born and raised in the South of England, and after completing a degree at the University of Bristol, started her career as a Management Consultant working in various locations around the world. A spur of the moment decision saw Carey coming to France in 2009 for a 'bit of a break' from the corporate sector, but what was meant to be a 6 month trip has developed into her settling in the area for 6 years and counting. Having always taken enjoyment out of coordinating an annual company sailing regatta in her previous job, a move into the yachting sector followed naturally. Since being in France, she has been working in Marketing Strategy and Business Development for various companies in the yachting industry. She joins the PYA with a keen vision to modernise the marketing and move forward the association which does so much for the industry we all share and love.
